The Denver South PTSA supports students through student enrichment, faculty support, and student assistance

 

Our Mission

The Denver South PTSA follows the purpose/mission of the National PTA: to make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children.

Denver South PTSA - what we do:

General Involvement:

  • Support of ELA, and Newcomer programs through provision of classroom tools
  • Community Outreach includes: Parent Education Network movie nights, paint recycle program, Washington Park Cleanup,
  • ELA Parent support-provision of childcare, food, and friendship to ELA communities during both on and off-site gatherings
  • Participation and dissemination of information obtained at the districtwide Superintendent Forums
  • Ongoing Special Education support
  • Ongoing support of the Denver South Food Bank
  • Classroom library contributions in ELA, reading support and English literature classrooms
  • Student Assistance Fund
  • Math Tutoring Center Support
  • Support Denver South High School College Support Fund

 

Student Initiatives

Chairperson:  Michelle Adams

  • Support of Student Senate at Freshman Academy, Homecoming, Trick-or-Treat Street, Culture Day and Prom, 
  • Co-sponsorship of Challenge Day

 

Teacher/Staff Appreciation

Chairperson:  Kristen Dorighi / Kara Bovenzi

  • Organize 4 teacher/staff appreciation events throughout the year, by providing breakfast, lunch and/or coffee.

 

School Store

Chairperson:  De Bonnell

  • School Store open daily and selling everything from school supplies to sweatshirts

I am Denver South Campaign (IADS)

Chairpersons: Angela Flug / Karin Rustein

  • I Am Denver South Direct Donation Campaign funds the Mini-Grant program, student assistance fund, and capitol improvement

 

Mini Grant Committee

Chairpersons:  Stephanie Rudnick / Kara Bovenzi

  • Mini-Grant program supports classrooms, students, and clubs bringing everything from kiln furniture to anatomy labs to artists-in-residence into Denver South (Supports Dance Workshops, Poetry Day, Knowledge Bowl Technology, Diversity Conference Sponsorship, and everything "in between")

  

Permanent Art Collection

Chairpersons:  Jocelyn Murphy / Carolyn Howard

  • Permanent Art Collection featuring student art

 

Wreath Sale

Chairperson:  Annie Fedler

  • Annual wreath sale

 

Capital Improvements

  • Installation of LED sign at the front of the school and broadband coverage for announcements
  • Contributions to repainting of gymnasium and upgrade of sound system
  • Installation of water bottle filling stations
  • Athletic Netting for Athlete Safety in multi-sport setting
  • Installation of outdoor furniture in courtyard
