How to Use the Giving Grocery

The Giving Grocery is open to all students at South High School every Thursday after school during the academic year. Please check our Instagram page and the school newsletter for occasional schedule changes.

What to expect:

  • We are located in Room 141A, and there is no need to register. Any student may just show up!

  • Only South students who are getting food may come in. If you are a parent, sibling who does not go to South, or a friend just keeping someone company, we will ask you to wait outside. This allows us to keep the line moving and to better serve the students. If you have a circumstance that makes this impossible, please contact us to discuss accommodations.

  • Please don’t line up until the last bell rings (3:40 pm). Students coming down before this will be sent back to class. You may come during 4th or 6th period only if you can show us your schedule proving you do not have class.

  • Students accompanied by a staff member can come early. A note is no longer sufficient unless it comes from the office stating that you have have an excused absence from class.

  • If you are sick and miss school on a Thursday, we ask that you don’t come to the Giving Grocery, just like any other after school activity.

  • Sometimes there’s a little bit of a line, but it moves quickly.

  • Once inside we will ask for your name and student ID number so we can count the number of students we are serving.
